WESTFIELD, NJ -- The Professional Firefighters Association of New Jersey, AFL-CIO (PFANJ) has endorsed Leonard Lance for Congress over his Democratic rival Peter Jacob.

In his letter, PFANJ President Dominick Marino praised Leonard Lance, saying, "Your support of our issues and your hard work for your constituents is what sets you apart from other legislators. It is because of your record of accomplishment that we support your continued service to the State of New Jersey and the nation."

Leonard Lance's record in support of New Jersey's firefighters, EMTs and emergency dispatchers includes:

  • Member of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus.
  • Original sponsor of H.R. 1786 to provide health care benefits to Sept. 11 first responders.
  • Champion of federal SAFER and FIRE grants programs to help address staffing, equipment, training and health and safety needs for New Jersey's first responders.
  • Cosponsor of H.R. 2658, the "Protecting Volunteer Firefighters and Emergency Responders Act."

The PFANJ is the statewide organization representing professional firefighters, emergency medial and allied support services personnel affiliated with the 300,000 member International Association of Fire Fighters.. The PFANJ has more than 4,000 active and retired members in the Garden State.

The NJ FMBA letter concluded, "...we extend our appreciation for your support of professional firefighters and their families and wish you ever success in the upcoming election."

The Professional Firefighters Association of New Jersey endorsement
comes on recent endorsements from the New Jersey Fraternal Order of Policethe New Jersey State PBA, the Port Authority PBA and the New Jersey State Firefighters.
